Life has been different at PKC over the past eight weeks due to COVID-19 – and staff have been working hard to deliver lifestyle activities chosen by the clients.

Acting Lifestyle Coordinator Fiona Smith says initially staff worked hard on delivering a range of lifestyle activities through the houses.

“However, the feedback from clients was that they missed the routine of the activity room program, so we worked on finding ways to bring back some of that familiar routine,” Fiona says.

“Of course, with the weather being good, we were also able to spend time out in the garden, making decorations for the outside area, as well as a bit of gardening!”

The mentoring service is still continuing and the team are all working together to make sure everyone enjoys a good lifestyle program, including the usual in-house meditation and yoga.

“We have also had the use of iPads and tablets from MyPATH and these are a huge hit with our residents who love listening to music – and of course watching the funny animal home movies!” Fiona says.

“I really want to thank the PKC families for their understanding in these tough times.

"And I want to extend a huge thanks to (lifestyle staff members) Roze, Beth and Kareen, and the mentoring team, who continue providing the best service and client care despite the restrictions.”
