Inspired by their love for art and animals, the pottery group at MyPath recently created “purr-fectly” crafted cat-themed pieces of art to donate to Sassy’s Cat Café.
Unique and fulfilling outings are frequent for the pottery group, and the trip to the café last month provided an opportunity to interact with adorable cats and share their artwork with a wide audience.
“The inspiration came from seeing the café’s vans on previous outings. One of the clients kept saying we should visit the café because it would be fun,” disability support worker Beth Woof said.
“However, we needed to find a way to incorporate pottery into the trip. After having a bit of a think, the group decided to create some cat bowls and donate them to the café.”
Each of the cat-themed bowls created by the group varied in size, colour and shape, but all displayed quality that caught the eyes of the people who visit the café.
“The café thought the bowls were fantastic and they even posted something on their social media. It is always great to hear positive feedback on the group’s work,” Beth said.
The café’s social media has more than 15,000 followers and their post attracted dozens of positive comments, with many praising the quality of the bowls.
Beth said the pottery group enjoyed spending time with the many adorable cats and donating their work to the café, which helps cats and kittens find a new home.
“The group loved visiting the cat café over the two different days. They enjoyed interacting with all the different cats. It was great to see the smiles on their faces,” Beth said.
