Making a difference in the lives of clients and being given opportunities for growth are what make working at Minda rewarding for Tania Alkildani.

Starting with Minda in 2015 as a disability support worker in respite services, Tania found her way into Supported Independent Living as a support leader in Blackwood.

“I was later promoted to acting manager for SILs in the south before taking on the role permanently,” she says.

“So now I am manager for 17 houses, 98 staff and 58 clients.”

And it’s working to support those clients that brings her joy - just like James in Blackwood who enjoys any interactions with Tania, especially showing off his prized tomato patch.

“Just to see the smile on their face when they visit you or you visit them it’s just amazing to know that you are part of the reason behind that smile."

“They still feel that they are in control of their lives that they are responsible for their daily activities and achievements.

“They still have to do things around the home and go out to do the shopping. They are in control of their lives.”

From a personal and professional stand point, Tania says working at Minda has been a rewarding experience.

“Minda offers good windows of opportunity,” she says. “I started as a DSW and now I’m a manager, it really is a place to grow.”
