Social and community participation

Spend your day your way!

If your goals include getting involved in the community, trying a new hobby or learning a new skill, our centre-based and community social and lifestyle programs have something for you!

With programs including technology, pottery, music, gardening, fitness and cooking – we have social and community programs for everyone, based at our state of the art Lifestyle Precinct at Brighton North.

If you prefer one-on-one support to learn new skills, try a new hobby or just get out of the house, our community program can help you achieve your goals. Tell us how you want to spend your days, and we'll match you with a friend who shares your interests.

The best part? Our Community and Lifestyle program are completely flexible - from a couple of hours to five full days a week, you can choose the activities and schedule to help you reach your goals.

Get social, learn a new skill or try out a new hobby at our state-of the art Lifestyle Precinct at Brighton North.

Design a schedule that suits your life, from half a day a week to five full days, with a combination of activities that match your interests. Our jam-packed program includes:

  • Food and Cooking – this program will help you learn the essentials in the kitchen, including whipping up delicious and healthy meals
  • Life Skills – this program will help you become involved in the community, or learn life skills such as laundry, cleaning, and catching public transport
  • Fitness, Leisure and Recreation – if you’re keen to get active, this program is for you
  • Health Living and Wellbeing – this program will teach you how to look after yourself so you can live your best life
  • ICT – this program will teach you how to be safe online and how to have fun on the computer
  • Culture and Arts – if you’re keen to try out the pottery wheel, paint a masterpiece or learn to knit, look no further!
  • Transition to Employment Options – you can learn customer service skills, how to put through transactions and style a retail store at our very own Restyle Sanctuary
  • Gardens and the Environment – you can learn how to horse ride, how to look after pets and to look after a veggie patch

Prefer one-on-one support or want to get out and about? Our community supports are for you.

This totally flexible service matches you with a support worker who shares your interests and suits your personality, to help you achieve your goals. It might be learning a new skill or trying a new hobby, going to see the latest blockbuster or having lunch at the pub, kicking a footy or attending an art class. You tell us what you want to do, and we'll help you achieve it!

The team can also help you live more independently, supporting you to develop skills including:

  • Personal care
  • Volunteering and working
  • Catching public transport
