Sunny skies blanketed the iconic Glenelg Golf Club, as 140 keen golfers took to the green for the 2024 Women’s Minda Golf Day on 6 February.
The partnership between Minda and the Glenelg Golf Club spans close to six decades, with the first ever golf day taking place in 1968.
Players took part in an 18-hole best ball stableford, with winners also rewarded for longest drive, nearest to the pin and straightest drive.
Minda staff and volunteers were on board to sell homewares, homemade edible treats, plants and other amazing goodies at a trading table as well as tickets to a raffle packed with fantastic prizes from generous donors.
Golfers came from all parts of Adelaide to attend the event, with some even coming from interstate.
After receiving an invite, Heather Walcott and Andrea Occhipinti drove 600km from Warrnambool to join in the fun.
“We absolutely loved it. It was a really good chance to support a charity event,” Heather, who’s sister is a Glenelg Golf Club member, said.
President of the Women’s Sub-Committee at Glenelg Golf Club president Cathie Molloy praised the generosity of countless club members, stating the “deep pockets” of attendees went a long way towards raising the impressive total.
Every dollar raised will go directly towards client-related activities, as well as providing important financial support to clients who need it most.
“The events and activities we put on for clients are so important. They allow clients to be socially active, build important friendships, and learn new skills,” Minda’s Volunteer Specialist Louise Fletcher said.
“Funds will also go towards allowing our clients to advocate for themselves and supporting any client who is experiencing financial hardship.”
Louise praised Glenelg Golf Club for their ongoing support of the event, stating the partnership between both parties is as strong as ever as it fast-approaches its diamond anniversary in 2028.
Lucky raffle winners took home a wine hamper (valued at $250), a health and beauty hamper (valued at $250) and a goodie bag donated by the Glenelg Golf Club including a Club hat signed by some of the Australian cricket team.
Thank you to TerryWhite Chemmart, TRAK Furniture, Bunnings, and Adelaide Arcade for their generous support of the event.
