Glenys doesn’t let age stop her from living a fulfilling lifestyle that gives her the power of choice and brings her an immeasurable level of happiness.
Following her 80th birthday earlier this month, it is easy to see why Glenys feels “80 and fabulous” – much like what was printed on her birthday sash.
Glenys celebrated her major birthday milestone in style, undertaking various social experiences with friends, family, and staff.
The birthday bonanza began with a celebratory breakfast with staff, before enjoying a lovely lunch with 34 family members at The Highway. Glenys’ birthday concluded with a special dinner with her long-term housemates at their Morphettville-based Home and Living Support (SIL) accommodation.
Another highlight of Glenys’ birthday included an overnight stay with a friend at a luxury apartment in Goodwood.
Deputy Cluster Manager Monica Raphael said the vibrant 80-year-old is a “remarkable woman”, who is showing no signs of slowing down.
Monica said Glenys still attends MyPath (RLS) twice per week and finds pleasure in organising social activities with her mentoring and SIL staff on weekends.
Rewarding social experiences allows the 80-year-old to create lasting memories. Multiple times per year, Glenys and staff organise fulfilling day trips through Holiday Explorers.
While going on social outings bring her joy, Glenys also values the opportunity to relax at home, as well as spend quality time with family members.
To the many people who are fortunate enough to know Glenys, they cannot speak highly enough of her kind nature and giving personality.
Surrounded by family, friends and staff, Glenys has the best network around her to live her best life, which includes receiving support from staff to undertake activities in the community.
While all birthdays are special, it is fair to say that Glenys’ 80th birthday was jampacked and one to remember.
The much loved 80-year-old is keen to keep sharing her sociable and helpful personality with everyone she comes into contact with.
