No matter who we are, we’ve all got particular things we love to do – and your support this Christmas can help turn a good day into a great one!
Maybe it’s spending time outdoors bushwalking or fishing, perhaps it’s watching or playing sport. For some it’s eating out, going shopping or a trip to the movies that makes the perfect day.
NDIS funding usually covers basic care and support needs however often people with intellectual disability miss out on funding for fun social activities. At Minda, we’re committed to making a difference and to just make it happen, so people with an intellectual disability can achieve their goals and dreams and live their best lives, no matter what!
A little effort goes a long way and for Mikey, this meant that he was able to participate in this years City to Bay Fun Run, walking the six kilometre walk. Bev was also able to participate in the three kilometre walk, with a little extra push from some staff and volunteers! Both Bev and Mikey proudly shared their victory by showing off their medal – such a great achievement!
For Joel it meant he was able to watch his beloved Port Adelaide chase the dream of premiership victory and soak up the atmosphere that comes with a day spent at the footy. Joel recently had an opportunity to walk on the hallowed home ground of Alberton Oval and says it was truly an experience to remember.
Maria also enjoys the great outdoors, but for her its spending time playing a game of mini golf at the West Beach Mini Golf, while for avid basketballers Warwick and Adam the focus has been on putting in a solid season’s effort to reach the grand final playoff.
And while personal best scores may not be for everyone, supported employee Anthony has his sights firmly set on victory when he competes at the Special Olympics Australia National Games as a highly skilled ten-pin bowler.
These are only a handful of the many memories made from community generosity. Your donation – no matter how big or small - helps people living with intellectual disability actively participate in their local community, learn new skills and partake in activities and events that otherwise would not be funded by the NDIS.
