Coast Park Approved

It is pleasing to see the City of Holdfast Bay has recently released concept plans for the Coast Park project, which will run along the foreshore through land owned by Minda. The 500m path would run from Repton Rd in the north to Gladstone Rd in the south.

Our Brighton property is one of the last remaining sections of the shared pathway to be designed, and will ultimately provide a vital link between Glenelg and Brighton. Its importance has previously been recognised by the State Government as part of the Minister’s North Brighton Coastal Plan Amendment Report.

Minda has offered an easement along the beachfront to establish the connecting walkway. This gift to the local community will open up a very popular part of the coast park and make it far more accessible for those living with disability, older people, parents with pushers and cyclists.

This will finalise what will be a 70-kilometre linear shared pathway for pedestrians and cyclists along the entire length of Adelaide’s metropolitan coastline.

Council has committed to retaining valuable remnant vegetation and habitat, and rehabilitate the dune system with indigenous plantings and sensitive weed control.

The path will feature a mix of exposed concrete and boardwalks, while a viewing deck and steps down onto the beach will also be constructed, splitting off from the middle section of the main path.

It is also a lovely way to welcome the wider community and encourage more connection with Minda.
