Extra opportunities for Mentoring
Exploring opportunities to better meet the needs of their daughter earnt Daniel Smith the staff Values Award for OPPORTUNITY following a nomination from her family.
Daniel, our Mentoring Manager, recognised that an existing program for a client wasn’t the right fit and set about organising for her to be mentored from the Lifestyle Precinct at Brighton on a Saturday morning – something that also allowed her time to ride the bikes around the site.
Her family says this has proven to be an overwhelming success.
“I wasn’t aware that I had been nominated until a few days prior to the award being announced, it’s a lovely feeling to be recognised by my peers and especially the families of clients that I assist in providing supports to,” Daniel says.
“I’ve worked at Minda for nine years, the entire time being within the Lifestyle Services Department and that’s something that I’m quite proud of.”
In his role, Daniel oversees service delivery of community-based supports as well as the continued expansion and development of the department.
“This is a role that I’m still fairly new to and what I love about it is the continued challenges that I get to undertake each week to ensure a quality of service for our clients – something I wouldn’t be able to do without with the support of the whole Mentoring team.”
